I, Katie Zasly, started my college career going and playing on a
Division 1 soccer scholarship at
Marist
College
in
New York
in the MAAC (Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference). I played soccer for
two years there and continued to practice basketball everyday even know
I was a full time soccer player, then I decided I wanted to play
basketball full time because I missed playing basketball so much. I
practiced with the Marist College Women's Basketball Team everyday as
well as on my own while playing on the Marist College Women's Soccer
Team from 2006-2008. I helped the Marist Women’s Basketball Team get
to the NCAA Division 1 Sweet Sixteen tournament Appearance in 2006-2007.
Then the following year I continued to practice with the Marist
Women’s Basketball Team and helped them get into the NCAA tournament
to the Round of 32 in 2007-2008. I was a successful soccer player at the
Division 1 level in the MAAC Conference by being one of the starting
center middle fielder and played the majority of the minutes and leading
my team in scoring freshman and sophomore year. As a sophomore I was 2nd
Team All MAAC Conference and MAAC All-Tournament Team. I then gave up my
soccer scholarship for the love of the game of basketball after my
sophomore year. I then played basketball one year at
Skyline
Junior College
and lead the team in most of all categories all across the statistic
board. I also was 1st Team All Coast Conference. I then transferred to
Division II, Notre Dame de Namur University. Right from the start I was
an impact on the team and in the conference. I lead the Team in many
categories across the statistic board. I was named First Team All
PacWest Conference the first year I stepped into that conference
averaging 14.9 points per game, 6.1 rebounds, 2.8 assist, and 2.7 steals
per game. I am a 5'10'' athletic fast guard that can shoot, dribble,
pass and score with a lot of experience, and I can play the 1, 2 and 3
position. I am continuing to love and have such passion for the game of
Basketball and cannot wait to continue to play and improve my skills and
see how far I can get as a basketball player. I work harder and harder
everyday making sure I get better and better. Hard work and dedication
is my foundation.
