To Whom It May Concern:

Please accept this letter as a recommendation for Jessie Miller.  I have had the pleasure of coaching Jessie for the past 4 years as the Head Coach of the UIC Women’s Basketball Team.  I have been the head coach at UIC for 8 years, and I was an Assistant, then Associate Head Coach at DePaul University (a top 25 program) for a total of 11 years.  In my 20 years of college coaching, Jessie is one of the best players and people that I have had the privilege to coach.

Jessie made an immediate impact on our program the minute she walked through our doors.  She earned a starting spot as a freshman, and was a key contributor to the success we had that year, our best ever in the school’s history.  During that season, Jessie assumed the role of point guard with an experienced group of seniors around her, and she brought out the best in each of them.  That year, we set the school record for wins in a season, longest winning streak, and we made our first ever post season tournament appearance, competing in the WNIT.  This would not have been possible without Jess.

Jess continued to lead us for the next three seasons.  Due to a lesser supporting cast, as well as some untimely injuries, we were not able to replicate the success we achieved in Jessie’s first year, yet Jessie gave everything she had to try to make that happen.

Jess is effective at either the point or the off guard.  She is a player that plays with relentless energy and passion.  One of the reasons she is so difficult to defend is the way she flies around the court when the ball is not in hers hands.  When it is, she knows just what to do with it:  She can knock down the three ball, she can get to the basket, or she can create scoring opportunities for her teammates.  Jessie led us in scoring this season, as well as being the team leader in assists.

Jessie approaches the game with a passion and desire that rubs off on her teammates.  She is not especially vocal, but she leads by example. She is someone that is skilled at getting along with, and bringing together each and every one of her teammates.

Jessie will represent her team with utmost dignity and class.  She will be an ambassador for whichever program is lucky enough to secure her services.  As someone who played in Europe for three years, I can attest to the fact that Jessie will go above and beyond expectations to immerse her self in the team and the community.

If any additional information is needed, please do not hesitate to contact me.  Jessie Miller is a very special player and person, one who I expect will achieve much success at the next level.

Thank you for your consideration!
