Started in 20 games at the university of drexel
where I avg 5 pts 2 asst 2 rebs as a sophmore. After transfering to
Norfolk state in 2008 I became a full time starter where I started 58
out of 60 games in my 2 year career at norfolk state. As a junior was
the teams second leading scorer (12.4) behind senior guard moe deloatch
(21.5) but was the teams best perimeter defender. As a senior i had the
same role but increased the production on offense by avg (14.4) to be
the teams second leading scorer behind leading scorer kyle o'quinn.
This past fall I played for Estudio italiano in
santiago chile. I was the leading scorer on the team and the 5th leading
scorer in the league with (22.7). I was also the teams second leading
rebounder (5.3). We finished in 5th
2009-10 (Junior Year) Started 27 of the 28 games in which he played…was second on
the squad and 12th in the MEAC in scoring, at 12.4 points per game…ranked
13th in the conference in field-goal percentage (43.0), 15th in
free-throw percentage (69.7) and eighth in steals (1.5)…was third on
the team with 4.4 rebounds per game and second in 3-point field goals,
with 27…scored in double figures 21 times, including a season-long
streak of 10 in a row to close the year…scored 17 points in his first
home game as a Spartan, in the come-from-behind win over Maine
(11-16-09)…had a college-high 24 points in the loss to St. Bonaventure
in the Illinois State tournament (11-28-09)…was 7-of-12 from the floor
and 9-of-10 from the free-throw line against the Bonnies…had 18 points
and 12 rebounds for his only double-double of the year in the loss to
North Carolina A&T (12-5-09)…also scored 18 in the loss to Niagara
in the Sun Bowl Classic (12-29-09)…scored 21 points on 6-of-10
shooting from the floor against Howard (1-18-10)...handed out a
season-high 10 assists in the loss at South Carolina State (1-25-10)…had
the game-clinching steal and free throw in the final 10 seconds of the
victory at Hampton (2-13-10)…contributed 19 points on 6-of-14 field
goals and 6-of-6 shooting from the line in the win over S.C. State
(2-22-10)…missed the second games against Coppin State (3-1-10) and
North Carolina A&T (3-4-10), the final two games of the regular
season, after twisting his knee at Morgan State (2-27-10)…came back
strong with 20 points on 7-of-15 shooting in the MEAC Tournament loss to
Hampton (3-11-10).
At Drexel (Freshman/Sophomore Years)
Played for Drexel of the CAA as a freshman and sophomore (2006-08)…played
in 24 games and started 13 during his sophomore season (2007-08)…averaged
4.5 points, 2.2 assists and 1.8 rebounds in 20.7 minutes per game that
season…shot 41 percent from the floor and 67 from the foul line…scored
in double figures three times…had 15 points, his most in a Dragons’
uniform, to go with five assists against VCU (1-26-08)… dished out a
career-high seven assists against George Mason (2-7-08)…scored 14
points and had six assists vs. JMU (2-27-08)…poured in 11 points
against Towson (2-9-08)…played in five games as a freshman, tallying
three points and two rebounds.
High School A two-year letterwinner at Christ the King…averaged 13.8
points, seven rebounds and three assists per game as a senior, earning
all-city honors…led the team to the Brooklyn/Queens championship…was
also an all-city pick as a receiver on the football team in his final
prep season.
Personal Robert A. Hampton was born on March 12, 1988…son of Toney and
Rosemary Hampton…majoring in interdisciplinary studies.
