My Favorite Write Up!
DeAndre Bray, 5'6" Junior guard, Jacksonville
State: Davidson's Jason Richards is the king
of the assist category, but Bray runs a very
respectable second with 8 per game. The difference
is that Richards is 6'2" and passes to Stephen
Curry, whereas Bray can be carried to the games in a
suitcase and passes to... really any teammate who
comes into his field of vision. The Gamecocks have
ten players averaging over 6ppg, and the top two
scorers are averaging a modest 10 per. Jax State is
2-7, and seems to find every way possible to lose
(41-34 at Samford, then 90-81 two days later at
Tennessee-Martin), but you can't blame that on
DeAndre. He's doing his job - passing to his
teammates - it just seems the recipients of his
largesse don't exactly know what to do with the
gifts they've been given.
I just made the all decade team at JSU!
(2000-2010)
Also tire the record for most games played in JSU
history 115 games!
Senior DeAndre Bray added four, making him just the
fourth player in school
history to record 500 assists in his career. The
Atlanta native finished the
night by pushing his total to 502. Senior guard
DeAndre Bray put a few
milestones in his portfolio in the losing effort.
The 5-foot-6 Atlanta native
became just the sixth player in JSU’s
Division I
history to play in 100 games
as a
Gamecock
in the game, and he also moved his name up in a few
career
statistical categories. He finished the game with
seven assists, passing Robert
Lee Sanders in sixth place and
Earl Warren
in fifth place on the Gamecocks’
career assists list with 465. He also recorded five
steals, giving him 138 in
his four-year career, moving him past Scott Watson
into third on JSU’s Division
I steals list.
Played in the WBA league this summer for Marietta
Storms also the ATL pro am league.
I had 24 points 4 steals 6 rebounds 16 assist and 2
turnovers (my best WBA game) and 32 points 8 steals
6 ast 5 rebs. 10-12 from 2's and 4-10 from 3's.
