Statement of the head coach:

Doug Miller was a co-captain and played a significant role on our 2009-10 Harvard Basketball team.  This year's season was historic, as we had the best record of any basketball team in the history of Harvard University, and Doug Miller started every game for us.  When I think of Doug, I think of a great teammate, a reliable, dependable player who makes his teammates better.  Doug is a terrific screener and rebounder.  He is one of the more athletic post players in the Ivy League.  He was our best post defender, our best post runner, and he is unselfish.   Doug is the kind of player that any coach wants on his team and any player wants to play with!

About Doug Miller

I grew up in the suburbs of Boston , Massachusetts , and was lucky enough to attend a great public high school in my hometown.  As president of my freshman and sophomore class and the National Honor Society, I was able to develop a well-balanced background.  That and my success as a basketball player allowed me the chance to attend Harvard College .  I was a senior captain on my high school team, and 3-time team MVP, with school records in rebounding and blocked shots, and 3rd all-time in points scored.

I graduated cum laude from Harvard with an Honors degree in Economics and an overall GPA of 3.6 out of 4.0.  I also studied history, sociology, and government, and received a citation in French.

As a basketball player I developed as one of the leaders on the team, and was a starter my junior and senior year.  As a captain my senior year, we had the best record of any Harvard team (21-8) in history and won a bid to postseason play for the first time in over 50 years.

During my summers in college, I worked for a general contractor as an intern at a 4.5 million square-foot site, helping to oversee subcontractors and safety requirements.  Last summer, I worked at McGraw-Hill Construction Analysis in their economic forecasting group, contributing to a transportation study on American stimulus funds, among several other publications.
