Amanda McConnell signed a contract with German 2nd league team Keltern till end of season.  

Savannah Werner made it to 2nd league in Italy . She will play for Reggio Calabria.

 

02.01.2010:  BBC 3Torrents is bank rubbed and released Carrie Biemer and Jeanette Woodberry. Both players will use their ticket that is already paid for and come back to Switzerland on the 5th of January. They are ready to sign !

Last weekend we had the Slammers Pro Camp in Bonn, Germany. All the players who participated are still looking for a team for this season. It was the first camp where the games were live on the  internet.  We had an average of 40 people watching the game live. You can still download them or just watch them.

Petra Manakova ,Div 1team Saarlouis Germany , is now playing with the Czech Nationalteam by the Woman Eurobasket in Latvia .She had in her first game against Spain in 10 minutes 6 rebounds. In the next two games Petra saw action in 2 or 3 minutes. This weekend is our big Slammers pro Tournament with lots of woman and men players from USA , Germany and Nigerian. European College Exposure Camp

This coming weekend Slammers Basketball will organize the European College Exposure camp. It´s 7 years now that we are offering this event for youth players, men and women age 15-24. The goal of the camp is to get a basketball scholarship in the USA or Canada or somewhere in Europe.

The camp will start Friday afternoon. It will be in Bonn, Germany.

Donau-Ries, with Sarah Wilson, loses both games so that Oberhausen reaches half finals. Sarah Wilson in game 1 with: 9 points, 11 rebounds, 2 steals; game 2 with: 6 points, 10 rebounds and 4 blocked shots.  

Sarah finished  her first season abroad with 12 ppg, 8 rpg, 1 topg, 1 spg, 1 blpg in 27 min per game.

Espo Team, featuring slammers players Ashley Haynes, Megan Griffith are double champions in finnland this season. They won the cup championship in december and the finish championship last thursday.

Espoo Team 65 - Catz 50

Espoo Team has won their first Finnish Championship after many years of former Espoo team Tapiolan Honka. Tapiolan Honka received silver MEDALS many as four times (1997, 1999, 2000, 2001) however now the gold and championship finally arrived to Espoo.

The victory was clear with a 15 point win over Catz Lappeenranta in five game series stopped in Helsinki in front of a large crowd. The series was complete at 3-1 in the home of Espoo Team. Megan Griffith led Espoo team in scoring while Ashley Haynes led the game in rebounds with 9 points.

HOLLAND, Monday 30.03.09  

In a close lost against Probuild Lions for the Cup Championship, Jeanette Woodberry scored 30 points and grabbed 8 rebounds.

Lakethia Hampton and her team lost although she had 32 points and 10 rebounds.

Germany / Final 4 :  

Last Weekend was Cup Final 4 in Oberhausen with two Slammers Girls. Chevon Keith starts for ChemCats Chemnitz and Petra Manakova for her Saarlouis Royals.  

Chevon and her team land the biggest surprise when they beat Oberhausen in the half finals with 4 points after one overtime. Saarlouis with Petra beats Freiburg in the other half final.  

On Sunday Chemnitz has no chance to win the cup against Saarlouis. So Petra Manakova wins Cup with her team second time.  

After this big surprise, winning silver medal, Chemnitz has to hope that they can stay in league 1, when there is no other team which wants to move up from league 2 to league 1. So that Chemnitz can start next season with a broader cadre and a better financial background.  

Signings:  

Amanda Davidson signed a new contract with her team, BC Marburg 1st league Germany , for next season!! This seaon Amanda averages 11 points per game, 3 rebounds per game and 3 assists per game in 28 minutes.

 

Portugal:

The Portugiese regular season league has come to an end, Lakethia Hampton playing for B.Viagem finished 3rd in points per game in the League, she averaged 22,6 ppg. She just missed the regular season MVP vote, she finished in 2nd place for being voted as MVP. Good luck for Lakethia as she is heading towards the quarter finals of the Portugiese cup 2009. Season ending Injury for Mercedez Van Wagner from BG Bonn. A Fractured wrist in practice forces the BG Bonn Center to end the Season early. She wont beable to suite up for the last 2 games of the season against Osnabrücker SC and SV Union Opladen.

Angela Manjarrez scored 14 points and had 16 rebounds in 24 minutes in the game BG Dorsten against TV Bensberg. Dorsten is first in the ranking, Bensberg 3rd. Since Oberhausen declared not to move up this season, Dorsten can already plan for div 2 Germany for next season 4 days before the end of the season. Dorsten is undefeated until today.

Tamara Tatham, div 1 team Halle , lead her team again with 19 points, 11 rebounds, 3 steals and 2 assists to a win against Göttingen. Her team mates, Amanda Rego with 13 points, 5 rebounds and 3 assists, Polina Hadjiankova with 6 points and 2 assists. Sunny Biemer got hurt the week before and had to do a surgery last Wednesday. The doctors told her, that she a good chance to be back for the playoffs. Halle is second in the league for right now. The top team is Wasserburg.

Since Viterbo is having financial problems, Jessica Butler flew over to Belgrad in Serbia for a tryout. By Monday we will know if she is coming back to Italy or if she will switch teams.

Serena Benavente played Linkenheim on Saturday. They won 80-65. She had 28 points, 9 rebounds, 4 assists, 5 steals. They are still undefeated in league.

We had two games. Saturday and Monday. Saturday stats, 17 points 7 rebounds. I played decent. Didnt shoot as well as I wanted to. But I havent really been able to get into the gym. Monday was the semi-finals for the cup. I had 27 points (12-18 shooting), 9 rebounds. I shot extremely well, but I still dont feel as comfortable.  Also I do put highlights of my games on my youtube channel (www.youtube.com/woodballtraining ).

When Wolfenbüttel, 1st league Germany , beats ChemCats Chemnitz Shaina Zaidi scores 27 points, grabbes 7 rebounds in 24 minutes. Teammate Jezabel Ohanian had 6 points and 3 steals. Chevon Keith, had 5 points and 4 rebounds for Chemnitz .  

BC Marburg, 1st league Germany, Amanda Davidson made 15 points, 6 assists and 2 steals by winning against the top team of Saarlouis Royals with Petra Manakova. She had 2 points, 2 rebounds and 3 steals in 17 minutes.

At the end of the first half Amanda hit a full court shot !!!!
